The Arpeggio Content Manager is part of the Core Module, and has been designed to replicate the standard computer software user interface that is found on most software tools today... It is a "What You See Is What You Get" (WYSIWYG) editor, although it also allows for standard HTML editing as well, for those administrators who are comfortable in text based HTML editing.
The editing tools allow for easy link creation, text composition and formatting, image uploading and placement, true multimedia additions, and the standard tools for content management. The tool includes methods for adding sound, Acrobat Reader, Flash, and other file formats.
Font selection is similar to that in word processing software. Paragraph and other formatting is as well... Various file management utilities are also included.
Although all text content is indexed for search automatically in the Arpeggio Core Module, it is also possible to index images and other file formats by assigning keywords and categories to the files. The keyword system consists of a Master Keyword List for generally useful keywords that will applied to a wide variety of content, and Unique Keywords, which are assigned to specific content files. All content files can be assigned to categories as well. These features make Arpeggio's suite of site management tools one of the most comprehensively searchable site systems on the market today.
Of course, the keyword and category system is applied to shopping cart items as well. This makes the Arpeggio content management system valuable for e-commerce sites just as well as for informational sites. The system, and all of the modules, are highly integrated, and all optional modules take complete advantage of the Core Module Content Management features, including the search functions.
Content page editing is not what it seems on the Arpeggio driven site. While it appears that all pages are ACTUAL pages, in fact content is supplied through a rapid database system. Content layout is provided through a system of templates which can be added, edited, or removed as the site administrator sees fit. Unlike most competing systems, this means that when updates are made to the site, the Arpeggio tools do not create pages that then have to all be uploaded to update the site. For example, in many competing solutions, the site managers create new updates using the tools. Once updates are completed, the server then creates an entirely new site which is then uploaded as static HTML. This is a very large bandwidth issue when new files are uploaded, eating into the bandwidth allocation for the site.
In contrast, editing for the Arpeggio driven site is handled in the WYSIWYG editor, page templates are assigned, and only that new content need be uploaded. This ensures trouble free editing of the site, uses less bandwidth for editing purposes, and creates a very dynamic site that is easy to maintain. Of course, all of this is transparent to both the end user of the site, and to the administrators.
Easy and fast maintenance, low bandwidth requirements, and a rapid database delivery system using readily available database tools makes the Arpeggio system a step above competing systems at even three times the price.
Because Arpeggio developers want the tools to be straight forward and easy to use, all systems have had tremendous development regarding usability and clarity. Complex template design results in easy maintenance, usable sites, and custom look and feel.
For editing content, a list of pages is presented. To edit a content page, simply click the link to the page in the content editor. Clicking the link opens the content page in the WYSIWYG editor, where text, images, and other media types can be edited. Simply click save, and the new page or edited content becomes live on the site. The process is quick, easy, and robust.
The Arpeggio Content Management system, as part of the Core Module, is transparent across all content related optional modules. Templates in the Contact Management module, Promote!, are edited using the same tools. This means that the learning curve for administrators is quick. Learn one module, and you have learned how to do related tasks in all of them.
